Tunde Akinyeke, Ph.D. earned his<br />

B.S. in Biology from the University<br />

of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2003.<br />

He has received numerous honors and<br />

Award (2008), 8th Annual Meharry<br />

He completed his Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences-<br />

Cancer Biology at the Meharry Medical College in 2011. His<br />

doctoral research project title is Regulation of c-Myc<br />

Expression by Troglitazone in the C4-2 Human Prostate<br />

Cancer Cell Line. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Fellow at<br />

the New York University College of Dentistry.<br />

Olusimidele T. Akinsiku earned her<br />

B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular<br />

Biology from the University of<br />

Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in<br />

2004. As an undergraduate at UMBC,<br />

she “gave back” to students in the<br />

pipeline by serving as a tutor for<br />

children in the Choice Program. She<br />

also was active in the African Student Association and served<br />

on the President’s Student Advisory Council. She is currently<br />

enrolled in a joint M.D./Ph.D. program in the Departments of<br />

Microbiology and Medicine at the University of Alabama,<br />

Birmingham. She has co-authored three publications related<br />

to her current research on CD8 T-Cells.<br />

Adedayo Adeniran-Catlett earned her B.S.<br />

in Chemical Engineering 2008 from the<br />

University of Maryland, College Park in<br />

2008. As an undergraduate, she participated<br />

in the LSAMP Summer Bridge Program,<br />

conducted research, mentored high school<br />

students through the GEAR-UP Saturday Academy, and<br />

served as an active member of the student chapters of the<br />

American Institute of Chemical Engineers and National<br />

Society of Black Engineers. Currently, she is pursuing a<br />

doctorate in Bioengineering at Northeastern University.<br />

Yohance M. Allette earned his B.S. cum<br />

laude in Biological Sciences from the<br />

University of Maryland, Baltimore<br />

County (UMBC) in 2010. He received<br />

numerous awards and honors as an<br />

undergraduate (e.g., LSAMP Scholar,<br />

Meyerhoff Scholar, McNair Scholar,<br />

MARC U*STAR Scholar), and he had<br />

extensive research experience. He is<br />

listed as first author on an article<br />

published with his undergraduate research mentor at UMBC,<br />

Rachel M. Brewster, Ph.D., in the FASBE Journal, April<br />

2010. The article is titled Investigation of migrating neural<br />

cells during neurulation in zebrafish. He also is co-author of a<br />

manuscript recently submitted for publication with Kent Lai,<br />

Ph.D. who served as his undergraduate research mentor in the<br />

summer of 2008. He is currently enrolled in a joint<br />

M.D./Ph.D. program at the Indiana University.<br />

Brittany Blueitt Amadi received the<br />

prestigious Banneker Key Merit<br />

Scholarship to attend the University of<br />

Maryland, College Park in 2003. She<br />

earned her B.S. summa cum laude in<br />

Mechanical Engineering in 2006. Upon<br />

graduation, Brittany was employed in<br />

the Spacecraft Engineering Department<br />

of the Naval Research Laboratory in<br />

Washington, D.C., where she served as a structural analyst for<br />

satellite and spacecraft systems. She completed her J.D. cum<br />

laude with an emphasis in intellectual property law at the<br />

Harvard Law School in 2010. She is currently serving as a<br />

judicial law clerk for an appellate judge on the U.S. Court of<br />

Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in Washington, D.C.<br />

Time Aigbe is a Ph.D. student in<br />

Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the<br />

University of Maryland, College Park<br />

(UMD). He earned his B.S. in<br />

Mechanical Engineering at UMD in 2008,<br />

and he received a 2008-10 LSAMP Bridge<br />

to the Doctorate Fellowship. After<br />

completing his Ph.D., he plans to work in<br />

industrial engineering and develop<br />

manufacturing systems.<br />
