Sophie J. Holiday is a 2010 graduate from<br />

South Carolina State University with a BS<br />

degree in Radiochemistry. While enrolled<br />

at SCSU, Sophie was granted various<br />

opportunities, including research on<br />

polymer identification and research on<br />

radioisotope concentration measurements<br />

in groundwater. Due to her academic<br />

excellence at SCSU, Sophie was offered a<br />

co-op in 2007 in the Office of Federal and State Materials<br />

Environmental Management Programs (FSME), Radioactive<br />

Materials Safety Branch. Sophie accepted full-time<br />

employment in May 2010 as a health physicist working in the<br />

same office.<br />

Jasmine Oliver is a Summa Cum<br />

Laude graduate of South Carolina<br />

State University with BS degree<br />

in Physics with Medical Physics<br />

Option. Currently, Jasmine is<br />

pursuing her Ph.D. in Applied<br />

Physics with Medical Physics<br />

Concentration at the University of<br />

South Florida where she is funded by the Bridge to Doctorate<br />

program. Jasmine conducted research under Dr. Zheng Chang<br />

at SCSU. Jasmine research experiences also include worked<br />

under Dr. Yasumasa Takano at the University of Florida with<br />

extended research at the National High Magnetic Field Lab in<br />

Tallahassee, Florida.<br />

CoDanielle Green is a Senior Biology<br />

major at South Carolina State<br />

University. CoDanielle’s research<br />

experiences include the Medical<br />

University of South Carolina’s<br />

Hollings Cancer Center and the United<br />

States Department of Agriculture<br />

Russell Research Center. She is the<br />

co-author of the manuscript entitled<br />

ABCA2 transporter deficiency reduces<br />

incidence of TRAMP prostate tumor metastasis and cellular<br />

chemotactic migration. She also has another publication on<br />

the way! With the experiences provided through SCAMP,<br />

CoDanielle feels very prepared to pursue her dual MD/MPH<br />

degree.<br />

Uchechi Egbuhuzo, is a<br />

graduate of South Carolina State<br />

University with a BS degree is<br />

Biology. While at SC State she<br />

served as Miss South Carolina<br />

State University. She is<br />

currently pursing a Masters<br />

Degree in Biomedical Science at<br />

the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where<br />

she also works as a graduate assistant in the UMDNJ<br />

Community Outreach Office. Uchechi’s undergraduate<br />

research internship at the University of Louisville broadened<br />

her horizon in the area of research. She now conducts research<br />

at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey .<br />

Kára Deidra McCullough is a Junior<br />

majoring in Chemistry with<br />

concentrations in Radiochemistry at<br />

South Carolina State University. She<br />

interned in an Organic Chemistry lab at<br />

North Carolina State University,<br />

Raleigh, NC, during the summer of<br />

2011. She received an award of<br />

excellent participation and had a pending publication with her<br />

mentor. She has presented two posters at the Nation Health<br />

Physics Society meeting in West Palm, Beach, FL, and the<br />

other at NC State. Her post undergraduate plans are to pursue<br />

a degree in Nuclear Pharmacy at MUSC.<br />

Denita Williams received a bachelor’s<br />

in biology from South Carolina State<br />

University in 2002. She continued her<br />

educational career as a student at the<br />

University of Georgia where she<br />

received both her master’s and doctoral<br />

degrees in toxicology. During her<br />

tenure at the University of Georgia,<br />

Denita published 8 peer reviewed<br />

articles; of which she served as primary author of three. To<br />

date, Denita’s graduate research has been recognized through<br />

awards at national, regional, and local scientific conferences.<br />

Currently Denita is an Oakridge Institute for Science and<br />

Education (ORISE) Fellow with the Environmental Health<br />

Services Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and<br />

Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.<br />

Danzell Smith is a sophomore Biology<br />

major at South Carolina State University.<br />

He participated in the Summer Bridge<br />

program in 2010 and successfully<br />

completed it with a 4.0 GPA. He is a<br />

member of the South Carolina State<br />

Honors College. This summer he<br />

completed an internship at MUSC in the<br />

Summer Undergraduate Research<br />

program working with Paget’s Disease of Bone. His postundergrad<br />

goals are to obtain a M.D. /Ph.D. in the fields of<br />

geriatrics and gerontology. He was the student coordinator for<br />

the 2011 South Carolina Academy of Science Annual Meeting<br />

that was held on April 16 th .<br />

Robin Moss is a Senior Biology Major<br />

from Atlanta Georgia. She has received<br />

various awards during her tenure at South<br />

Carolina State University such as:<br />

Freshman of the year 2008-2009,<br />

Presidential Scholar Bronze Pin<br />

Recipient 2008, 2009, and 2010. From<br />

the age of 4 I knew that I wanted to study<br />

biology in college. I have interned at<br />

USDA-ARS Russell Research Center in<br />

Athens Georgia working Under Dr. Nelson Cox and studying<br />

Poultry Microbiology. Upon Graduation from South Carolina<br />

State University on May 4, 2012 I plan to attend Gumpton<br />

Jones School of Mortuary Science in Atlanta Georgia.<br />
