Ms. Michaela E. Amoo is both an Alumna and continuing<br />
student of Howard University. She was the<br />
first Howard undergraduate to complete 3<br />
undergraduate degrees, simultaneously,<br />
across two schools. Ms. Amoo was<br />
awarded a BBA in Actuarial Science<br />
(Insurance) Summa Cum Laude, a B.S in<br />
Mathematics Summa Cum Laude, and a<br />
B.A in Philosophy Summa Cum Laude.<br />
During her undergraduate studies, she was a member of the<br />
Dean's List, Phi Beta Kappa, Gamma Beta Sigma, and the<br />
Golden Key National Honors societies. Ms. Amoo chose to<br />
stay at Howard, and obtained her Master's in Electrical<br />
Engineering. Ms. Amoo is currently a PhD candidate,<br />
specializing in Reconfigurable Computing (Electrical<br />
Engineering).<br />
Bethtrice Thompson is an alumnus of Jackson State<br />
University where she received her bachelor<br />
degree in Chemistry with a concentration in<br />
Forensic Science in 2008. She was also a<br />
participant of Research Initiative for<br />
Scientific Enhancement (RISE) Program,<br />
and Louis Stokes Alliances of Minority<br />
Participation (LSAMP). Currently, Ms.<br />
Thompson is attending Howard University as a 4 th year<br />
graduate student in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Biology. She was<br />
awarded a LSAMP Bridge to Doctorate Fellowship Award in<br />
2008. Ms. Thompson is a of Sigma Xi and is working on her<br />
Ph.D. thesis research at the National Cancer Institute, National<br />
Institutes of Health<br />
Naim Quail is a junior, sports medicine major at Howard<br />
University. During his years at Howard<br />
University, Naim Quail was accepted into<br />
the Drew Hall Honors Society, National<br />
Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the<br />
College of Arts and Science Honors<br />
Program. He participated in the LSAMP<br />
program in the summer of 2011 researching<br />
in chemistry with Dr. Talanova. Currently, Naim Quail on<br />
track to graduate in 2013.<br />
Ashley Denise Henry is a Junior, Chemistry major at Howard<br />
pursuing a B.S. degree in chemistry. Aside<br />
from being a Howard University Legacy<br />
scholar, she received two awards from the<br />
Department of Chemistry in the spring of<br />
2011. Ashley knew she was destined to<br />
pursue a career in medicine from a young<br />
age, and attended Monmouth County<br />
Academy of Allied Health and Science, a specialized high<br />
school, before becoming a proud Bison. She is currently<br />
conducting organic chemistry research with Dr. Oladapo<br />
Bakare and plans to attend medical school and become an<br />
infectious disease specialist with a concentration in HIV/<br />
AIDS.<br />

Jamal A.L. Gwaltney a senior at Howard University from<br />
Baltimore, Maryland. He is an Applied<br />
Mathematics and Economics double<br />
major. During his time at Howard, Jamal<br />
has achieved many accomplishments, as a<br />
freshman, he received Howard University<br />
Department of Mathematics “Excellence<br />
in First Year Study Mathematics Award”<br />
in conjunction with the Louis Shapiro<br />
Math Scholarship. Jamal plans to pursue Master’s degrees in<br />
both of his fields of study, and obtain his Doctorate in<br />
mathematics from the University of Maryland.<br />
Monica Adedeji is a senior honors student at Howard<br />
University. She is pursuing two Bachelor of<br />
Science degrees in Biology and Psychology,<br />
with a minor concentration in Chemistry.<br />
Monica has been an academic tutor through<br />
the LSAMP program since March 2010. She<br />
tutors Howard undergraduate students in<br />
Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and<br />
Physics. Ms. Adedeji is actively involved in<br />
various campus organizations, most notably the Health<br />
Professions Society and Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific<br />
Honor Society, and serves as the vice president for both<br />
organizations. After graduation in May 2012, Monica plans to<br />
go on to medical school in the fall.<br />
Heba Elnaiem is a senior pursuing two Bachelor of Science<br />
Degrees in Physics and Biology at<br />
Howard University. She is a tutor for the<br />
LSAMP program and has been tutoring<br />
extensively since her sophomore year. Ms.<br />
Elnaiem has been very active in research<br />
and has participated in several on-campus<br />
and summer research programs. Her most<br />
recent research opportunity was through the Leadership<br />
Alliance Summer Program, where she worked in the lab of<br />
J.V. Shah at Harvard Medical School. After graduation, Heba<br />
intends to pursue a Medical Degree as well as a Masters of<br />
Public Health.<br />
Chibuike Ezeibe is a senior biology major at Howard<br />
University. He is recognized as an honor student and member<br />
of many of prestigious societies such as the<br />
Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor<br />
Society and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.<br />
Alpha Chapter. He has been tutoring<br />
through the LSAMP Program since the fall<br />
of 2010. After graduation he is interested<br />
attending medical school where he will<br />
eventually pursue a MD and further specialize in internal<br />
medicine.
