Matthew Turner (’13) is a junior at<br />
Indiana University Bloomington.<br />
During the summer of 2011, Matthew<br />
performed research in the laboratory of<br />
Professor Heather Bradshaw studying<br />
lipid signaling in rat brains. He will<br />
return in his role as peer mentor during<br />
the spring of 2012 following his study<br />
abroad experience in Seville, Spain.<br />
Elizabeth Uduehi ('12) is studying speech &<br />
hearing Sciences at IU Bloomington. She is a<br />
Hudson & Holland Scholar who has participated<br />
in undergraduate research through her<br />
department with Professor Phil Connell.<br />
Elizabeth plans on attending graduate school for<br />
speech language pathology upon graduation.<br />
Taisha Venort (’13) is currently a junior at Purdue University<br />
West Lafayette studying Environmental<br />
and Ecological Engineering. During<br />
summer 2011, Taisha participated in the<br />
LSAMP Research program conducting an<br />
assessment study of the water distribution<br />
in Togo, Africa. Taisha also had the<br />
opportunity to volunteer with PCI- Haiti<br />
(Project Concern International) as a water<br />
distribution system evaluator. Postgraduation,<br />
Taisha plans to further her studies in a graduate<br />
program focusing on environmental science/ management and<br />
policy or green architecture.<br />
Ramon Verduzco (’07) Ramon received his B.S. in Chemistry in<br />
2007 from Purdue University Calumet and<br />
then began graduate studies in Chemistry at<br />
the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Ramon<br />
began doing undergraduate research early in<br />
his academic career and was awarded an<br />
LSAMP undergraduate research stipend for<br />
the summer 2005. Ramon traveled with his<br />
mentor to the University of Nebraska at<br />
Lincoln to collaborate with Dr. James Takacs.<br />
As a result of this research opportunity, Ramon was awarded the<br />
PUC Student Research Award in April 2006. Ramon also<br />
presented his work at the Central Regional Meeting of the<br />
American Chemical Society (CERMACS) in Covington, Kentucky<br />
in May 2007. Ramon is currently employed in the SSCI division<br />
of Aptuit in Lafayette as a scientist.<br />
Ginger White (’10) graduated from IUPUI in<br />
2010 with a B.S in Informatics and Certificate<br />
in Applied Computer Science. Ginger is<br />
currently a graduate student at Indiana<br />
University Bloomington completing her M.S<br />
in Informatics- Human and Computer<br />
Interactions.<br />
Wilson Williams (’12) is currently a senior<br />
at Purdue University West Lafayette<br />
studying Interdisciplinary Engineering.<br />
Wilson plans to further his education by<br />
attending graduate school once he completes<br />
his baccalaureate degree and later plans to<br />
join the Peace Corps.<br />
Amanda Wilson (’09) graduated from<br />
IUPUI in 2009 with a B.S in Biology.<br />
Amanda received her M.S in Forensics<br />
from Marshall University in 2011. She<br />
is currently employed by the St. Louis<br />
Police Department as a Fingerprint<br />
Specialist.<br />
Chaunda Williams (’12) is a senior studying<br />
Computer Information Technology at Purdue<br />
University West Lafayette. Her postgraduation<br />
plans include pursuing a Master of<br />
Science degree in technology.<br />
Kelly Wilson (’11) graduated from IUPUI in<br />
2011 with a B.S. in Clinical Lab Science with<br />
minors in Chemistry and Spanish.<br />
Sannah P. Ziama (’08) is currently a Ph.D.<br />
candidate in Physics at Purdue University,<br />
West Lafayette. He received LSAMP<br />
support during his four years of studying at<br />
IUPUI. Sannah obtained a B.S. in Physics<br />
and a M.S. in Engineering in 2008. He is a<br />
recipient of NSF Graduate Research<br />
Fellowship in 2009.<br />
Malachi Boyd (’15) Malachi Boyd is currently a freshman at<br />
Purdue University West Lafayette studying Engineering. Malachi<br />
participated in Purdue’s Academic Boot Camp, which is a summer<br />
bridge program for incoming freshman funded in part by LSAMP<br />
Indiana. Post-graduation, Malachi plans to attend graduate school<br />
to study Mechanical Engineering.<br />
Austin Crawford (’12) is a senior studying Biology at Purdue<br />
University West Lafayette. Post-graduation, he plans on obtaining<br />
a Master’s degree or doctorate in forensic science.<br />
Megan Gunn (’12) is currently a senior at Purdue University West<br />
Lafayette studying ecology. Megan has been conducting research<br />
in an aquatic ecology lab since spring 2011 and has traveled to<br />
Costa Rica twice for research. During the fall 2011, Megan will<br />
travel to Seattle, WA to present her research at the National<br />
59
