Tomas Meijome (’13) is currently attending<br />
IUPUI double majoing in Physics and<br />
Chemistry. Tomas is interested in medical<br />
research radiology.<br />
Michael Menchacha (’10) graduated from Indiana University<br />
Northwest with a B.S. degree in Geology in 2011. Michael is<br />
currently working towards his Master’s degree<br />
in geology at the University of Chicago. At IU<br />
Northwest, he worked under LSAMP where he<br />
analyzed the mineral composition of sand at<br />
Mount Baldy Dune in Northwest Indiana in<br />
order to determine human impact on the dunes.<br />
Chris Merchun ('12) is studying biology at<br />
Indiana University Bloomington. He is a Herbert<br />
Presidential Scholar and active member of the<br />
Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP)<br />
where he has diversified his science curriculum<br />
to include economics, finance, and management<br />
classes. Chris plans on attending medical school<br />
upon his graduation.<br />
Paul Middleton (’12) is currently a senior at<br />
Purdue University West Lafayette studying<br />
Professional Flight. Post-graduation, Paul plans<br />
to become a Commissioned Office in the United<br />
States Armed Forces as a Professional Aviator.<br />
Ryan Mihalic (’12) is completing his B.S. in Chemistry at Purdue<br />
University Calumet. Ryan was selected to represent Purdue<br />
Calumet at the Howard Hughes<br />
Medical Institute funded research<br />
program at Purdue University in<br />
West Lafayette in the summer of<br />
2011. Ryan has received LSAMP<br />
research grants, two undergraduate<br />
research grants, and the Most<br />
Outstanding Student in Biology<br />
award. He also made the Dean’s<br />
List and received several other academic honors and awards. Ryan<br />
is currently working on publishing his research on burying beetles.<br />
After graduation, he plans to obtain Master’s degree in biology and<br />
later apply to Medical School with the hope of one day becoming a<br />
Surgeon.<br />
Alejandro Miranda (’06) graduated from the Indiana University<br />
School of Medicine in the spring of 2010. Currently, Alejandro is<br />
completing his surgical residency at the<br />
University of California - San Francisco<br />
School of Medicine. While at IU<br />
Bloomington, Alejandro served as a tutor for<br />
LSAMP students and participated widely in<br />
STEM related programs.<br />
Qurat-ul-Ann Mirza (’15) participated in the<br />
2011 LSAMP LINK program, which provides<br />
opportunities for students from Ivy Tech<br />
Community College to participate in research<br />
at a four- year institution. Ann had an<br />
opportunity to conduct research under the<br />
tutelage of Dr. Yogesh Joglekar in the field of<br />
Physics. Ann plans to transition to IUPUI to<br />
continue her studies in Physics. After she attains her baccalaureate<br />
degree, she plans to matriculate to a graduate program.<br />
Jose Mitjavila (’14) is studying neuroscience at<br />
Indiana University. He is a Hudson & Holland<br />
Scholar and Director of Communications for IUSA,<br />
the student body government. After graduating, Jose<br />
plans on attending medical school.<br />
Jordan Moran (’11) matriculated to the<br />
University of Cincinnati School of<br />
Medicine in the fall of 2011. While at<br />
Indiana University Bloomington, Jordan<br />
graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in<br />
Biology and minors in Chemistry and<br />
Spanish. He assisted LSAMP students<br />
extensively in his role as tutor and<br />
Supplemental Instruction leader for organic chemistry courses.<br />
Melissa Mora ('13) is studying public<br />
health with a concentration on sexual health<br />
at Indiana University Bloomington. She is a<br />
member of the Hudson & Holland Scholars<br />
Program and is currently mentoring a<br />
freshman science major. After graduation,<br />
she intends to plan and implement new<br />
health programs for the community.<br />
Keith Murphy (’11) graduated from Indiana<br />
University Northwest with a B.S. degree in<br />
Chemistry and minor in Mathematics in 2011.<br />
He plans to further his education in chemistry<br />
by obtaining a Master’s degree and is also<br />
considering applying to health professional<br />
schools. At IU Northwest, Keith’s LSAMP<br />
funding gave him the opportunity to study<br />
water contaminants and ion levels in Little Calumet River of<br />
Northwest Indiana.<br />
Adam Myers (’13) is a junior studying<br />
Industrial Technology at Purdue University<br />
West Lafayette. Post-graduation, he plans to<br />
work in a managerial capacity.<br />
