DENIM, an extension <strong>of</strong> SILK, is a tool aimed at supporting the early stages <strong>of</strong> web<br />

design through informal sketching. While DENIM is intended for website design, many<br />

<strong>of</strong> the features <strong>and</strong> concepts are applicable to the design <strong>of</strong> most graphical user interfaces.<br />

DENIM provides the following design features:<br />

These features make DENIM appropriate for low- fidelity <strong>and</strong> medium-fidelity<br />

prototyping. On the other h<strong>and</strong>, DENIM provides little support for transitioning to highfidelity<br />

prototyping. As shown in the figure below.<br />

e. Freeform<br />

Freeform is another tool that supports sketching <strong>of</strong> user interfaces. It also aims at support<br />

high-fidelity prototyping. Specifically, Freeform is a Visual Basic add-in that translates<br />

the recognized sketched interface components <strong>and</strong> text into VB code. However, this<br />

feature restricts the interface designer to simple forms-based interfaces that use st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

Visual Basic components. Also, the interfaces generated from sketches are not very<br />

visually appealing. Freeform is intended for use on large displays; however, there are no<br />
