1.3 Select and Prepare Team<br />

Purpose<br />

Ensure that an experienced, trained, appropriately qualified team is available<br />

and prepared to execute the appraisal process.<br />

Entry Criteria • <strong>Appraisal</strong> requirements have been documented (at least in draft <strong>for</strong>m).<br />

• <strong>Appraisal</strong> constraints are understood and documented (at least in draft<br />

<strong>for</strong>m).<br />

• The appraisal plan is defined (at least in draft <strong>for</strong>m).<br />

Inputs • <strong>Appraisal</strong> requirements and constraints (in draft or final <strong>for</strong>m)<br />

• <strong>Appraisal</strong> plan (in draft or final <strong>for</strong>m)<br />

• Team training materials<br />

Outcome<br />

The successful completion of this process results in an experienced, trained,<br />

and oriented team ready to execute the appraisal. The appraisal team members<br />

have acquired the necessary knowledge to play their roles, or their previous<br />

knowledge is confirmed to be satisfactory. The appraisal team leader has<br />

provided opportunities to practice the skills needed <strong>for</strong> each person to play his<br />

or her role, or has confirmed that these skills have already been demonstrated<br />

in the past. The team members have been introduced to one another, and have<br />

begun to plan how they will work together.<br />

Exit Criteria • The prepared team is committed to the appraisal.<br />

• Training has been provided and its results recorded.<br />

• Remediation of knowledge/skill shortfalls has been completed (if<br />

needed).<br />
