This paper sets out for the Trust Board:<br />

the clinical case for reconfiguration of our acute stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and<br />

inpatient Neurology services,<br />

the short listed options<br />

the case for formal public consultation on the proposed reconfiguration of these services,<br />

including the draft consultation document,<br />

the initial activity, capacity and financial analysis of the short listed options.<br />

ACTIONS REQUIRED, INCLUDING RECOMMENDATION:<br />

The Trust Board is recommended to:<br />

AGREE the clinical case for change of our acute stroke and TIA services and in particular<br />

the need to consolidate acute services in order to deliver improved patient outcomes and<br />

experience.<br />

NOTE the engagement to date including the process for short listing options.<br />

NOTE the proposed short listed options and AGREE that the activity, capacity and<br />

financial analysis to date does not exclude any of the short listed options at this stage.<br />

AGREE that a formal public consultation of the short listed options is undertaken.<br />

AGREE the consultation document (Appendix 3).<br />

AGREE the decision making process to identify an approved option.<br />
