A summary of the Any Qualified Provider approach was reviewed, which the<br />
Board was advised presented a risk to a proportion of the Trust’s income. Mr<br />
Adler highlighted that the introduction of the Any Qualified Provider approach<br />
would also offer some opportunities for the Trust in addition to creating greater<br />
competition in the healthcare environment.<br />
10 Strategy and Development<br />
10.1 ‘Right Care, Right Here’ programme: progress report including an update<br />

Mr Sharon advised the Board that there had been minor alterations to the<br />
decommissioning trajectories.<br />
The Board was informed that more care pathways were due to be published<br />
shortly and the approach to decommissioning for <strong>2012</strong>/13 was being considered<br />
at present. It was highlighted that good progress had been made with identifying<br />
the annual total of savings required for the current year, however the process to<br />
pinpoint from where the savings needed to be realised had been challenging.<br />
10.2 Clinical services reconfiguration update<br />

Mr Sharon reported that the recent reconfiguration work had included the<br />
development of the Halcyon stand‐alone birth centre. Mr Trotman asked whether<br />
the facility was being publicised and was advised that this was the case, including<br />
through an event for GPs. Dr Sahota suggested that posters should be displayed<br />
in community centres across the region. Miss Overfield confirmed that this was<br />
planned. Mrs Powney asked whether the facility was publicised in members’<br />
newsletters. Mrs Kinghorn confirmed that a feature was planned for inclusion in<br />
the next newsletter.<br />
Mr Sharon reported that the plans for vascular services and breast services<br />
reconfiguration had been discussed at a recent meeting of the Joint Overview and<br />
Scrutiny Committee, at which it had been agreed that no formal public<br />
consultation for these plans was necessary.<br />
Work was reported to be continuing on the reconfiguration of services in line<br />
with the Major Trauma Centre plans.<br />
It was reported that the clinical case for stroke services reconfiguration would be<br />
presented to the Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee in <strong>January</strong> <strong>2012</strong>; the<br />
plans for which were expected to require public consultation.<br />
