PMI System, Type PT/S Off�line<br />

On the ME�engines, the mechanical indicator system<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> replaced by a Pressure Analyser System<br />

for measurement of the cylinder combusti<strong>on</strong> pressure.<br />

The PMI pressure analyser systems measures the<br />

engine’s main parameters, such as cylinder pressure,<br />

scavenge air pressure, engine speed etc.<br />

enabling the engineer to run the diesel engine at<br />

its optimum performance.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Th<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g></str<strong>on</strong>g> system gets its data from a high performance<br />

piezo�electric pressure transducer which <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> to be<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> moved from <strong>on</strong>e cylinder to another in order to<br />

complete measurements <strong>on</strong> all cylinders.<br />

The crankshaft positi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> determined by means<br />

of the same trigger system as for the engine c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

system.<br />

The PMI system compensates automatically for<br />

the tw<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>ting experienced by each <str<strong>on</strong>g>secti<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g> of the<br />

crankshaft due to the torque generated at different<br />

loads.<br />
