Trpoyvbjaig is used also in 1 Peter, i. 2, and irpnyivwcTKiiv<br />

twice each by St. Paul and St. Peter : Eom. viii. 29, xi. 2<br />

1 Pet. i. 20 ; 2 Pet. iii. 17.<br />

Both words were much employed in medical language.<br />

By medical prognosis was understood the power of foreseeing<br />

and foretelling what will take place in the course of a<br />

disease. The greatest attention was paid to this part of<br />

medicine by the ancient physicians. Hippocrates has written<br />

two works on the subject— KwaKat<br />

Trpoyvwang and -rrpoyvwariKov.<br />

Galen has a Commentary on the latter, and has<br />
