Computer Replacement Fund - 511Internal Service FundsSummary: The fund was established in FY 2000-01 as a financial vehicle for the planned replacement of computerequipment.With just a few exceptions, all desktop, laptop, and toughbook computers for Council-operateddepartments are in this program. The Public Defender's Office, Judiciary, Court Administrator's Office, andProperty Appraiser's Office also participate in this program. Department computers not in the program areprimarily those funded by grants or by Friends of the Library.There are over 2,000 units in the program. The initial program contract deployed PCs on a 3-yearreplacement cycle with the equipment leased from the contractor. Effective with the current contractestablished in FY 2007-08, the County now purchases the equipment, and has transitioned from a 3-yearreplacement cycle to a 4-year replacement cycle. The Information Technology Division manages thecontract and coordinates with the departments and the contractor for equipment replacement.
