Department: Public ProtectionEmergency ManagementActivity: Emergency Management OperationsHighlightsThe Emergency Management Division is responsible under Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, for the county-wide organization andadministration of an emergency operations center and a wide variety of all hazards emergency management activities, services andprograms. These activities require proactive, year-round planning and coordination among a variety of private and county, city, stateand federal agencies. Supporting sustainable community development is a fundamental public value provided by EmergencyManagement but requires balance between a response operations posture and one of proactive, comprehensive planning. Activities,services and programs reflect the essential broad scope of Emergency Management involvement in all political and social institutionswithin our community. These activities are demonstrated year round in the functions of: awareness, risk assessment, prevention,mitigation preparedness, response and recovery-dozens of plans, dozens of public presentations, more complex exercises, and yearround training, all of which make our community more disaster resistant. One position was transferred to the transition organizationdue to retirement and the position will not be funded once it has been vacated.Volusia County Section F - 144
