Number of Client Support Actions 79,548.00 70,000.00 70,000.00HighlightsFlorida Statute 292.<strong>11</strong> allows for the <strong>County</strong> to employ a Veterans' Services Officer and Staff. The <strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Veterans' ServicesDivision assists all former and present members of the Armed Forces and their dependents in preparing claims for compensation,hospitalization, vocational training, and other benefits and privileges to which they are entitled under Federal and State Laws and<strong>County</strong> regulations. Offices are located in Daytona Beach, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, and Orange City. Due to frequent changes inthe laws and regulations, training and certification of staff is essential. Continued Certification and Accreditation is a necessity throughthe training provided by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs (FDVA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and internally bythis Division. The Division has been honored as being the Service Office of the Year for two years in a row for the State of Florida. In <strong>FY</strong>2008-09 the Division was successful in recovering retroactive pay in the amount of $8,278,684.16 for our clients, along with an annualincome for our Veterans in compensation and pension benefits of $141,392,425.00, and $1.3 billion plus in Home Loan Guarantees for<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Veterans. The <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>11</strong> budget includes one unfunded position.<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Section F - 381
