Department: Public WorksSolid WasteActivity: Solid Waste AdministrationHighlightsThe primary function of the Solid Waste Division is to provide safe and efficient transfer and disposal of solid waste at our two facilities:West <strong>Volusia</strong> Transfer Station and the Tomoka Farms Road Landfill. The core of this operation provides multiple services to include ClassI, Class III, construction & demolition waste disposal, and grinding yard trash into mulch for reuse. Additional environmental programs,to include: recycling, sludge processing, methane gas recovery to energy, household hazardous waste disposal, and electronic andfluorescent bulb recycling are managed through public/private partnerships. Planned activities include design of a citizen's drop-offarea, expansion of the employee multi-purpose room, along with partial closure of the south, west and north slope sections at theTomoka Farms Road Landfill. One position was transferred to Transition Reserves. The <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>11</strong> budget includes five unfundedpositions.<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Section F - 348
