Airports across the country weremandated by federal regulation to improve and enhance security systems and procedures to protect the traveling public from futureattacks. In addition to overseeing the installation and operation of the new security system, the Airport Security group is responsible forensuring compliance with all of the various regulations and directives issued by TSA . Although some of these mandates were fundedthrough federal and state grants, responsibilities for most have fallen upon the individual airports. Security is supplemented by lawenforcement contracted services with the Volusia County Sheriff's office. In FY 2008-09, one Administrative Coordinator position wastransferred from Ground Handling and one position was transferred from General Fund, Office of the Sheriff.
