Number of ordinances and resolutions adopted 228.00 260.00 290.00HighlightsThe <strong>County</strong> Attorney's office serves as general counsel to the <strong>County</strong> Council and handles all legal matters for the <strong>County</strong>. The staffdefends and prosecutes for the <strong>County</strong> in litigation and administrative proceedings. Litigation proceedings in state and federal courtsinclude, but are not limited to: eminent domain, civil rights actions, claims of negligence resulting in property damage, personal injuryand wrongful death, mortgage foreclosures, workers' compensation claims, property assessment disputes, challenges to <strong>County</strong> codesand ordinances, appeals for review of <strong>County</strong> Council decisions, elections dispute cases, and Code Enforcement Board lien foreclosures.Administrative proceedings include, but are not limited to: internal hearings of the Personnel and Animal Control Boards, and hearingsbefore state administrative hearing officers in unemployment compensation cases, personnel and labor cases, and environmentalcases. Attorneys also provide counsel to the <strong>County</strong> Council in planning and zoning hearings. The <strong>County</strong> Attorney's office isresponsible for conducting legal research, drafting and revising ordinances, resolutions, contracts, real property instruments,legislation, etc. The <strong>County</strong> Attorney's office updates bankruptcy files on notices of bankruptcy, collects delinquent taxes, fees andspecial assessments, and where necessary, files claims. Attorneys represent the <strong>County</strong> in appeals in state and federal courts.<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Section F - <strong>11</strong>7
