Number of participating cities 15.00 15.00 15.00HighlightsContractor Licensing has jurisdiction over contractors licensed per FS 489, parts I & II and Local Specialty Licenses regulated by <strong>Volusia</strong><strong>County</strong> Ordinance Chapter 22. This activity has licensing powers within any city in <strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> that has entered into an inter-localagreement. Cases brought by Contractor Licensing against certified and registered contractors are heard by the <strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong>Contractor Licensing & Construction Appeals Board (CLCA). The activity maintains a database of these contractors. All contractorsparticipating in the program must pay a fee and meet the State requirements for insurance to obtain permits and to maintain theiractive status. Registered and Local Specialty Contractors are required to participate. Certified Contractors may decline participation inthe program. Contractor Licensing operates with one Staff Assistant II who is responsible for the day to day licensing activity, issuinglicenses, maintaining the database, collecting fees, processing complaints, scheduling, attending and taking minutes at the Boardmeetings. The Staff Assistant II reports to the Chief Building Official who presides over the monthly CLCA meetings, presents cases,reviews licensing applications, interacts with City and State Officials in licensing matters, acts as liaison with the cities for licensed,unlicensed information.The CLCA Board hears cases for unlicensed activity, cases against licensed contractors, cases for code appeals and enforcement of theUnsafe Dilapidated Ordinance. The <strong>FY</strong> <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>11</strong> budget includes two unfunded positions.<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> Section F - 41
