BY BENCHMARKING TOOLS FROM THE POINT<br />

OF VIEW OF INTERNET DATABASES APPLICATION<br />

ABSTRACT:<br />

The presented paper deals with the possibilities of increasing business<br />

performance by using the methods of benchmarking. As the main tools of<br />

measuring business performances or these of individual industries, the methods<br />

of inancial and economic analyses and prediction models known from inancial<br />

controlling are used. Based on the accounting statements available from Internet<br />

databases it is relatively easy and effective to monitor the company’s success, to<br />

evaluate customers, suppliers, competitors and by this to improve the market<br />

share. To make the evaluation it is possible to use special point methods which<br />

measure the market position globally or partially according to management<br />

requirements. The goal of the paper is to point out the possibilities of effective<br />

company’s management by the use of Internet databases, benchmarking<br />

and controlling. These tools can be implemented directly into the company’s<br />

management system and thus it is possible to increase the effectiveness of<br />

management process. In this simple and up-to-date way companies can innovate<br />

and improve their whole management system.<br />

1 Introduction<br />

From the perspective of the development of the media the current<br />

period can be characterized as the period of their more intensive use<br />

and innovation. The media are beginning to implement themselves<br />

more signiicantly in the business sector and engage in the activities of<br />

businesses. While some of the management tools were unimaginable<br />

for managers in the past, or were very dificult to implement, it is easier<br />

today. The media, especially the Internet and online databases provide<br />

the possibility to improve benchmarking. This allows businesses to<br />

better monitor developments on the market, increase competitiveness<br />

and improve governance. I the case of media use it is no longer just<br />

about satisfying personal needs, but also about their increased use in<br />
