Use the following questions to stimulate a discussion in your group:<br />

1. Which <strong>of</strong> the eight leadership styles do your scores on the Strategic Leadership<br />

Styles Instrument suggest that you are most likely to use? In what ways are these<br />

styles important to your work?<br />

2. What are your key subordinates’ leadership styles? What behaviors could you<br />

use to improve your relationships with those people? What behaviors should you<br />

avoid using?<br />

3. What are your key peers’ leadership styles? What behaviors could you use to<br />

improve your relationships with those people? What behaviors should you avoid<br />

using?<br />

4. What is your supervisor’s leadership style? What behaviors could you use to<br />

improve your relationship with that person? What behaviors should you avoid<br />

using?<br />

5. What suggestions would you give to the following people about how to relate to<br />

you better and what to avoid doing?<br />

a. Your supervisor<br />

b. Your peers<br />

c. Your subordinates<br />

6. Which leadership styles are most needed in your organization if it is to adapt<br />

successfully to its changing environment? Which behaviors may need to be deemphasized?<br />

7. To what extent do the behaviors <strong>of</strong> your leadership style fit with those most<br />

needed by your organization? In other words, is your leadership behavior part <strong>of</strong><br />

the solution or part <strong>of</strong> the problem? In what ways?<br />
