ADMISSIONS INFORMATION<br />
Eligibility<br />
The right <strong>of</strong> any person to attend any community college in<br />
the District is conditioned by certain admission and residency<br />
qualifications as provided by state and federal law.<br />
Admission to <strong>Ventura</strong> <strong>College</strong> is open to any California resident<br />
who is a high school graduate, or who possesses a high school<br />
certificate <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>iciency or GED, or who is 18 years <strong>of</strong> age or older<br />
and capable <strong>of</strong> benefitting from instruction <strong>of</strong>fered. Admission is<br />
also open to any California resident who is an apprentice as defined<br />
in Section 3077 <strong>of</strong> the Labor Code. Recent high school graduates<br />
who are under 18 years <strong>of</strong> age shall provide an <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript<br />
verifying their graduation or equivalent as noted above.<br />
Persons who are attending an accredited public or private K-12<br />
school may be eligible for admission under special admission<br />
provisions noted elsewhere in this catalog. Persons who are attending<br />
a non-accredited K-12 school or home school may petition the<br />
registrar for admission under special admission provisions noted<br />
elsewhere in this catalog. Special admission provisions apply to<br />
minors, and to persons 18 years <strong>of</strong> age and older if they are still<br />
attending a K-12 educational institution as defined above.<br />
Persons entering any <strong>of</strong> the public community colleges <strong>of</strong><br />
California are subject to the residency requirements as determined<br />
by the state <strong>of</strong> California. Persons whose legal residence is<br />
determined to be in another state (nonresidents) or in a foreign<br />
country (International students) may be admitted under conditions<br />
stipulated by the governing board on payment <strong>of</strong> specified tuition<br />
and fees. Additional information regarding residency requirements<br />
may be found under the "Residency" section in this Catalog, at<br />
the <strong>College</strong> website or by contacting the campus Admissions and<br />
Records Office.<br />
A transfer student who has been disqualified from another<br />
institution may petition for admission through the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Registrar.<br />
MyVCCCD Student Portal: Gateway to Online<br />
Student Services<br />

MyVCCCD is the gateway to online services, college and district<br />
information for current students. New applicants and reapplying<br />
returning students will be provided a link to the portal in their<br />
acceptance e-mail from the college. MyVCCCD provides access<br />
to the following online services and features.<br />
� Registration appointments and calendars<br />
� Registration, add and drop classes<br />
� Pay fees, purchase parking permits and ASB cards<br />
� Sign up for payment plan<br />
� Search for classes using the “Searchable" schedule <strong>of</strong> classes<br />
(find drop deadlines, prerequisites, and more)!<br />
� Update personal information (address, phone, emergency<br />
contact numbers, major, educational goal).<br />
� Forward college e-mail to a personal e-mail account<br />
� Change password<br />
� View/print schedule<br />
� View/print un<strong>of</strong>ficial transcript<br />
� Print Official enrollment verification<br />
Registration Procedures<br />
Register online through MyVCCCD for the earliest and best<br />
opportunity to enroll in classes. Registration appointments<br />
are posted approximately one week before registration begins.<br />
Registration calendars may be viewed through the portal or the<br />
college website at venturacollege.edu/schedule.<br />
Registration appointments are determined by student status as a<br />
continuing, returning or new student; and for continuing students,<br />
by the total number <strong>of</strong> units completed within the District. The<br />
calculation <strong>of</strong> total units does not include units earned at colleges<br />
outside the <strong>Ventura</strong> County Community <strong>College</strong> District.<br />
Students who are eligible for services through the EOPS, EAC<br />
(DSP&S) and CalWORKs programs, or who are military veterans,<br />
are eligible for advanced priority registration one week before<br />
continuing student registration begins.<br />
�Special admission students who are concurrently enrolled<br />
in K-12 schools must register in-person on the dates specified<br />
each term in the Schedule <strong>of</strong> Classes, registration calendar.<br />
�Late Registration and Program Adjustment: begin on the<br />
first day <strong>of</strong> the semester or summer session, and on the first day<br />
<strong>of</strong> instruction in short-term classes.<br />
Admission Procedures<br />
Applications may be submitted beginning March 1st for summer<br />
and fall semesters, and October 1st for spring semester.<br />
New Students: Students attending <strong>Ventura</strong> <strong>College</strong> for the<br />
first time must file an application for admission and attend a new<br />
student orientation, assessment and advisement session. Apply<br />
online at venturacollege.edu/apply. Applications may also be<br />
filed in-person at the Admissions Office. Students who complete<br />
orientation, assessment and advisement activities will be eligible<br />
for an early registration date.<br />
Continuing Students: Students who have attended within the<br />
last year must update personal information (address, phone, e-mail,<br />
emergency contact information) and academic goal information<br />
before they register each semester. This may be done online when<br />
you register, or in-person at the Admissions Office before your<br />
registration appointment date.<br />
Returning Students: Students who are returning to <strong>Ventura</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> after an absence <strong>of</strong> one year must file an Application for<br />
Admission in-person or online at venturacollege.edu/apply<br />
Residency Requirements<br />
The determination <strong>of</strong> legal California residence is a complex<br />
matter. Students will be required to present various kinds <strong>of</strong><br />
documentation for purposes <strong>of</strong> the final determination. All questions<br />
as to legal residence and the exceptions allowed under California<br />
law shall be directed to the Admissions and Records Office.<br />
The right <strong>of</strong> a student to attend any public community college<br />
in California is conditioned by certain residency qualifications set<br />
forth in the California Education Code. Residence determination is<br />
based on state and federal law, and is subject to change without<br />
prior notification.<br />
