MM V46 - DIGITAL VIDEO EDITING AND PRODUCTION FOR<br />
THE INTERNET - 3 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MM V40<br />

Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course introduces students to procedures and phases <strong>of</strong><br />
design, creation encoding and upload/delivery <strong>of</strong> streaming audio/<br />
video elements via the World Wide Web. This course is hands-on<br />
and production driven. Using skills from prior courses, students<br />
learn about encoding and webcasting through lectures, discussions,<br />
demonstrations, and by developing an original streaming audio/video<br />
webcast. Previous experience authoring and posting a Web page<br />
using HTML is highly recommended before taking this course.<br />

MM V50 - BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS FOR<br />
MULTIMEDIA - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: MM V10 or MM V20 or equivalent; basic<br />
English and math skills; and computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course prepares students for entrepreneurial and flexible<br />
careers in the multimedia industry. Topics covered include selection<br />
<strong>of</strong> optimum communication channels, preparation <strong>of</strong> effective<br />
written communication for the multimedia industry, application <strong>of</strong><br />
appropriate oral communication skills for team building, interviewing,<br />
performance appraisals, conducting meetings and presentations,<br />
design and development <strong>of</strong> a resume/portfolio and cover letter<br />
(hard copy and online formats), and use <strong>of</strong> project management<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware to develop a project schedule for multimedia productions/<br />
applications.<br />

MM V61 - INTRODUCTION TO 3D ANIMATION AND MODELING<br />
FOR MULTIMEDIA - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course introduces students to basic three-dimensional<br />
modeling as it applies to multimedia and 3D computer modeling. The<br />
students will be required to make sketches <strong>of</strong> their models, fabricate<br />
actual models, and create 3D computer models.<br />

MM V62 - 3D COMPUTER ANIMATION - 3 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MM V61<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course covers creating animations using three-dimensional<br />
animation s<strong>of</strong>tware. Students will learn the history <strong>of</strong> animation,<br />
an overview <strong>of</strong> the animation process, and user interfaces in the<br />
program to create the illusion <strong>of</strong> movement, animation <strong>of</strong> a live<br />
object, backgrounds and basic interactions. Students will analyze<br />
and evaluate a variety <strong>of</strong> animation products, learn the opportunities,<br />
career paths, and current trends in animation and create simple 3D<br />
animations.<br />

MM V63 - MULTIMEDIA PROGRAMMING: 3D GRAPHICS AND<br />
ANIMATION WITH C++ - 4 Units<br />
Prerequisite: CS V30<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 3 lecture, 3 laboratory weekly<br />
This course builds on the student's current knowledge <strong>of</strong><br />
fundamental Windows C++ programming, and object- oriented<br />
design methods. This course will explore the creation <strong>of</strong> 3D graphics<br />
and animation. Some <strong>of</strong> the topics included are using cameras,<br />
polygons, lighting, materials, textures, splines, object creation,<br />
rasters and bitmaps, rendering, and palette optimization. Popular<br />
technologies such as morphing, special effects, 3D animation, and<br />
digital imaging will be covered. Students will learn to create materials<br />
with popular graphics s<strong>of</strong>tware.<br />

MM V64 - MULTIMEDIA AND 3D WEB<br />
DEVELOPMENT - 4 Units<br />
Prerequisite: CS V40<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 3 lecture, 3 laboratory weekly<br />
This course presents tools useful for multimedia Web<br />
development. During this course, the student will use various popular<br />
multimedia and graphic s<strong>of</strong>tware to create materials required for<br />
advanced Web development. Tools such as scanner, digital camera,<br />
microphone, and camcorder will be used to capture sounds and<br />
images to be manipulated.<br />

MM V65 - WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT - 2.5 Units<br />
Prerequisite: CS V40<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />

Hours: 2 lecture, 1.5 laboratory weekly<br />
This course provides the student with the necessary skills and<br />
techniques to design and create a complete pr<strong>of</strong>essional quality<br />
website. Using the student’s knowledge <strong>of</strong> Web page development,<br />
this course provides the design and planning skills needed to create<br />
a complete website.<br />

MM V66 - PROFESSIONAL WEB PAGE<br />
DEVELOPMENT - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: MM V80 or equivalent<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course presents the skills and techniques required to design<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional quality Web pages using the features <strong>of</strong> HTML. Students<br />
will learn how to design media-rich Web pages that will help attract<br />
users and maintain a steady audience. Included in this course<br />
are HTML presentation, how browsers and servers work together,<br />
graphics, effective Web page design, tables and forms, CGI scripts,<br />
developing interactive Web pages, HTML authoring tools, and<br />
introduction to Java.<br />
