MM V67 - MODEL MAKING AND DIGITIZING - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: MM V10 and MM V61 or equivalent; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed to develop a working understanding<br />
between actual three-dimensional objects and their application to<br />
computer modeling and animation. Using actual 3D objects, the<br />
building <strong>of</strong> 3D objects, digitizing hardware and computer s<strong>of</strong>tware,<br />
students will create virtual objects and virtual environments in<br />
a series <strong>of</strong> progressive exercises designed to develop aesthetic<br />
sensitivity and basic technical knowledge required to produce<br />
effective multimedia products and presentations.<br />

MM V68 - ADVANCED COMPUTER MODELING AND<br />
ANIMATION - 3 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MM V62 or equivalent<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed to develop a greater understanding <strong>of</strong><br />
computer modeling and animation and how that applies to high-end<br />
digital effects, feature animation, computer games, and video games.<br />
Using computers, digitizing hardware, and industry-standard 3D<br />
computer modeling and animation s<strong>of</strong>tware, students will design and<br />
develop computer models, scripts, storyboards, and short computer<br />
animations in a series <strong>of</strong> progressive exercises designed to develop<br />
aesthetic sensitivity and basic technical knowledge required to<br />
produce new and unique still and moving images.<br />

MM V69 - VIDEO AND COMPUTER GAME CONCEPTS - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: MM V10 and MM V61 or equivalent; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />

This course is designed to build an understanding <strong>of</strong> video game<br />
formats and concepts and aid in the development <strong>of</strong> video game<br />
design. Using computers, video games, game controllers, graphics<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware, and computer modeling and animation s<strong>of</strong>tware, students<br />
will explore, discuss and begin to design video games in a series<br />
<strong>of</strong> progressive exercises designed to develop aesthetic sensitivity<br />
and basic technical knowledge required to produce new and unique<br />
interactive materials and experiences.<br />

MM V70 - MULTIMEDIA PRACTICUM - 2 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MM V10 and MM V20 and MM V30 and MM V40 and<br />
MM V50<br />
Corequisite: MM V72<br />
Recommended preparation: complete specialty option from AS<br />
Hours: 4 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course, in conjunction with multimedia portfolio presentation,<br />
incorporates all <strong>of</strong> the theories and practice <strong>of</strong> development<br />
discussed and presented in earlier courses into actual production <strong>of</strong><br />
multimedia products. Students will provide work progress diagrams<br />
and documentation for each distribution medium that follows creative<br />
process development and project management.<br />

MM V72 - MULTIMEDIA PORTFOLIO PRESENTATION - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MM V10 and MM V20 and MM V30 and MM V40 and<br />
MM V50<br />
Corequisite: MM V70<br />
Recommended preparation: complete specialty option from AS<br />
Hours: 2 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course, in conjunction with multimedia practicum,<br />
incorporates all <strong>of</strong> the theories and practice <strong>of</strong> development<br />
discussed and presented in earlier courses into actual production <strong>of</strong><br />
a multimedia portfolio in both traditional and digital formats.<br />
Fees will be required. Field trips may be required.<br />
MM V74A - ADOBE PHOTOSHOP I - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed for students who desire hands-on<br />
experience in industry-standard digital image processing s<strong>of</strong>tware.<br />
The image correction and manipulation s<strong>of</strong>tware gives students<br />
an understanding <strong>of</strong> the tools and techniques needed to produce<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional quality results for print and Web images. Students will<br />
create a CD-ROM cover, Web banners, and a final print or Web<br />
project.<br />
Fees will be required. Field trips may be required. May be taken<br />
for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 2 times. Formerly IDS V74A. Transfer credit: CSU;<br />

MM V74B - ADOBE PHOTOSHOP II - 3 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MM V74A<br />
Recommended preparation: basic English and math skills; and<br />
computer fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed as a hands-on, intermediate course in<br />
the technical and artistic aspects <strong>of</strong> Adobe Photoshop. Students<br />
will learn intermediate tools and techniques needed to produce<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional quality results for print and Web images. The course will<br />
include independent creative projects comprised <strong>of</strong> written proposals,<br />
timelines, and storyboarding.<br />
Fees will be required. Field trips may be required. May be taken<br />

MM V76 - SOUND AND AUDIO FOR MULTIMEDIA - 3 Units<br />
Recommended preparation: MM V10 or equivalent; and computer<br />
fundamentals<br />
Hours: 6 lecture-laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed to build an understanding <strong>of</strong> audio<br />
and soundtrack production for multimedia presentations. Using<br />
computers, audio and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface)<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware, musical keyboards and synthesizers, students will explore,<br />
discuss and begin to create audio and music tracks in a series <strong>of</strong><br />
progressive exercises designed to develop aesthetic sensitivity and<br />
basic technical knowledge required to produce new and unique<br />
interactive materials and experiences.<br />
