PHYSICS<br />
PHYS V01 - ELEMENTARY PHYSICS - 5 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01 or MATH V01A-V01E or MATH V11B or 1<br />
year <strong>of</strong> high school beginning algebra with grades <strong>of</strong> C or better; and<br />
MATH V02 or 1 year <strong>of</strong> high school geometry with grades <strong>of</strong> C or<br />
better<br />
Recommended preparation: MATH V05<br />
Hours: 4 lecture, 3 laboratory weekly<br />
This course is the study <strong>of</strong> mechanics, heat, sound, electricity,<br />
modern physics, and light. The laboratory portion <strong>of</strong> the course<br />
involves experiments in mechanics, wave motion, sound, electricity,<br />
magnetism, optics, and radioactivity.<br />

This is a laboratory course in mechanics, wave motion, properties<br />
<strong>of</strong> matter, heat, and temperature. Students will be introduced to<br />
state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art computer-based data gathering and processing<br />
techniques including spreadsheet analysis.<br />
