EAC V17 - GRIEF: DEATH, LOSS AND DISABILITY - 1.5 Units<br />
Hours: 1.5 lecture weekly<br />
Students will gain an understanding <strong>of</strong> the grieving process and<br />
the inherent transformative nature within. Discussion topics include:<br />
interruptions to the life cycle, types <strong>of</strong> losses, healthy and unhealthy<br />
coping mechanisms, as well as key elements <strong>of</strong> the recovery<br />
process. A holistic perspective on grieving, diverse social customs,<br />
and available resources will also be covered.<br />

EAC V19 - LEARNING STRATEGIES AND<br />
TECHNOLOGY - 1.5 Units<br />
Hours: 1.5 lecture weekly<br />
This course provides students with an overview <strong>of</strong> the learning<br />
process. Students will have an opportunity to identify their learning<br />
style and develop strategies to maximize academic success.<br />
Lectures, activities and group discussions allow students the<br />
opportunity to explore topics such as learning styles, affect <strong>of</strong><br />
attitude and stressors on learning, right/left brain functioning, socialemotional<br />
factors, and multiple intelligences. On-campus resources,<br />
including the latest assistive technology programs and alternate<br />
media services, will also be explored.<br />

EAC V21 - WEIGHT TRAINING AND<br />
CONDITIONING: ADAPTIVE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This is an individualized weight training course designed to<br />
provide a physical education program for students who have<br />
limited physical capacity and require adaptive physical education.<br />
Students will improve their muscular strength and endurance,<br />
cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, posture, static and dynamic<br />
balance, locomotion, and perceptual-motor skills. Adaptive<br />
equipment is available in the Fitness Center for students requiring<br />
this accommodation.<br />
May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly EAC 21.<br />

EAC V25 - INTRODUCTION TO DANCE: ADAPTIVE<br />
- 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course is an introduction to dance for students with<br />
disabilities. Students will learn and participate in the performance<br />
<strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> social, folk, modern, creative, and other forms <strong>of</strong><br />
dance with adaptations appropriate to their disability. Topics will also<br />
include: body image and awareness; the development <strong>of</strong> flexibility,<br />
coordination, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance;<br />
social skills in dance; rhythm and music; and cultural differences as<br />
expressed through music and dance.<br />
May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly EAC 25.<br />

EAC V26 - INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM SPORTS:<br />
ADAPTIVE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course provides instruction and practice in individual and<br />
team sports for students with disabilities, including wheelchair users<br />
who have limited physical capacity and require adaptive physical<br />
education. Students will be introduced to the basic fundamentals,<br />
rules, and strategies <strong>of</strong> individual and team sports such as basketball,<br />
tennis, frisbee, s<strong>of</strong>tball, track, volleyball, badminton, and golf.<br />
May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly EAC 26.<br />

EAC V27 - INTRODUCTION TO SWIMMING AND AQUATIC<br />
FITNESS: ADAPTIVE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed to introduce the fundamentals <strong>of</strong><br />
swimming skills, safety practices, and non-swimming aquatic fitness<br />
activities. It will include instruction, conditioning and practice, and is<br />
designed for students <strong>of</strong> all disabilities and challenges.<br />

EAC V28 - EXPLORING MULTICULTURAL DANCE FORMS:<br />
ADAPTIVE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
The course is an introduction to multicultural dance for<br />
students with disabilities. Students will learn and participate in the<br />
performance <strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> dances from America and other cultures<br />
with adaptations appropriate to their disability. Topics will include:<br />
history and significance <strong>of</strong> dances from other cultures; culture and<br />
American dances; performance techniques; basic dance steps; dance<br />
forms, formations, and partner formations; dances <strong>of</strong> other cultures;<br />
social dances; dances related to social events and holidays; music<br />
and rhythm; and, creating dances. Students will participate in a<br />
culminating dance performance presentation.<br />

EAC V32 - JOB-SEEKING STRATEGIES - 1.5 Units<br />
Hours: 1 lecture, 1.5 laboratory weekly<br />
This course is designed for persons with disabilities who wish to<br />
improve their job-seeking strategies. Topics will include: employee<br />
rights and responsibilities, job observation/exploration, interview<br />
techniques, applications and resumes.<br />
Field trips may be required. Formerly EAC 32. Offered on a pass/<br />
no pass basis only. Transfer credit: CSU; credit limitations - see<br />
counselor.<br />
EAC V88 - EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE CENTER<br />
WORKSHOPS - .5-10 Units<br />
Prerequisite: varies with topic<br />
Hours: lecture and/or laboratory as required by unit formula<br />
Designed to meet specific needs <strong>of</strong> the college and community as<br />
required and/or requested by persons whose needs in this area are<br />
not met by present course <strong>of</strong>ferings.<br />
Fees may be required. <strong>Courses</strong> with same title may not be<br />
repeated; may be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly EAC<br />
V89.<br />
EAC V95 - SPECIAL EDUCATION INTERNSHIP I - 1-4 Units<br />
Corequisite: enrolled in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 7 units to include internship<br />
Recommended preparation: completion <strong>of</strong> or concurrent enrollment in<br />
one course in the discipline<br />
Hours: 60 per unit<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers students who are volunteers (unpaid) an<br />
opportunity to obtain work experience related to their field <strong>of</strong> study.<br />
Students are accepted as a result <strong>of</strong> consultation with a designated<br />
faculty member in the discipline and the acceptance <strong>of</strong> an approved<br />
work proposal.<br />
Field trips will be required. May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4<br />
times not to exceed 16 units total in combination with any other work<br />
experience/internship courses. Offered on a pass/no pass basis only.<br />
