CJ V86 - PC 832: FIREARMS - .5 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: CJ V85 or concurrent enrollment; no felony convictions<br />
per California Penal Code<br />
Hours: .5 lecture, 1 laboratory weekly<br />
This course will cover the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> firearms, including<br />
the information necessary for an <strong>of</strong>ficer to perform as a member <strong>of</strong><br />
a police or allied agency. Topics will include safety aspects in the<br />
use <strong>of</strong> firearms and practical application <strong>of</strong> firearms on a range.<br />
Completion <strong>of</strong> this training is required for state certification under<br />
P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standards and Training) guidelines.<br />
Fees will be required. Field trips will be required. Formerly CJ 86.<br />
Offered on a pass/no pass basis only.<br />
CJ V88 - CRIMINAL JUSTICE WORKSHOPS - .5-10 Units<br />

required and/or requested by persons whose needs in this area are<br />

This course <strong>of</strong>fers specialized study opportunities for students<br />
who wish to pursue projects not included in the regular curriculum.<br />
Students are accepted only by a written project proposal approved by<br />
the discipline prior to enrollment.<br />
Field trips may be required. May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4<br />
times not to exceed 6 units. Formerly CJ 90. Transfer credit: CSU.<br />
CJ V95 - CRIMINAL JUSTICE INTERNSHIP I - 1-4 Units<br />
Prerequisite: students cannot have been convicted <strong>of</strong> a felony<br />
<strong>of</strong>fense; must be 18 years old at the time <strong>of</strong> registration; must<br />
possess a valid California driver’s license; and must be currently<br />
enrolled in a criminal justice course<br />
Corequisite: enrolled in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 7 units to include internship<br />
Hours: 60 per unit<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers students who are volunteers (unpaid) an<br />
opportunity to obtain work experience related to their field <strong>of</strong> study.<br />
Students are accepted as a result <strong>of</strong> consultation with a designated<br />
faculty member in the discipline and the acceptance <strong>of</strong> an approved<br />
work proposal.<br />
Field trips will be required. May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4<br />
times not to exceed 16 units total in combination with any other work<br />
experience/internship courses. Offered on a pass/no pass basis only.<br />
Transfer credit: CSU; credit limitations - see counselor.<br />
CJ V96 - CRIMINAL JUSTICE INTERNSHIP II - 1-4 Units<br />
Prerequisite: students cannot have been convicted <strong>of</strong> a felony<br />

DANCE<br />
DANC V01 - DANCE APPRECIATION - 3 Units<br />
Hours: 3 lecture weekly<br />
This course is an introduction to the main stylistic periods and<br />
developments in dance, from ancient times to the present. Topics<br />
will include style as a reflection <strong>of</strong> the culture and era, choreography<br />
and choreographers, dance forms and approaches to movement, and<br />
the social and cultural factors affecting the development <strong>of</strong> dance.<br />
Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.<br />
DANC V10 - MODERN DANCE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course is an introduction to modern dance techniques and<br />
skills, and the experience and appreciation <strong>of</strong> modern dance as an<br />
art form.<br />
Field trips may be required. May be taken for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4<br />
times. Formerly PE 27A. Transfer credit: CSU; UC.<br />
DANC V13 - TAP DANCE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course teaches the basic skills in the execution <strong>of</strong> traditional<br />
tap dance steps and sequences. The emphasis is on the mastery<br />
<strong>of</strong> basic steps and rhythmic styles, leading to combination work in<br />
complete dances, including introductory choreography and space<br />
analysis. It includes a history <strong>of</strong> tap dance in American culture and<br />
its relation to other dance and art forms.<br />
Field trips may be required. DANC V13 & V18 may be taken in any<br />
combination for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly Dance 13. Transfer<br />
credit: CSU; UC.<br />
DANC V14 - MOVEMENT FOR THE THEATRE - 1-1.5 Units<br />
Hours: .5-1 lecture, 1.5-2 laboratory weekly<br />
This course teaches the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> music and dance<br />
techniques for students in the theatre and related arts. The course<br />
introduces theory and the practice <strong>of</strong> stage movement while<br />
developing the body as an expressive instrument. Flexibility,<br />
relaxation, control, and creative expression will be developed.<br />
Field trips may be required. DANC V14 /THA V14 may be taken<br />
in any combination for a maximum <strong>of</strong> 4 times. Formerly Dance 14.<br />
