MATH V01C - ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA: MODULE III - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01B or MATH V88B with grade <strong>of</strong> CR or P<br />
Hours: 1 lecture weekly<br />
This course is the third <strong>of</strong> a five-course sequence (MATH V01A-<br />
V01E). Completion <strong>of</strong> all five courses is equivalent to MATH V01.<br />
Topics will include linear equations, slope, finding the equation <strong>of</strong> a<br />
line, graphing linear equations <strong>of</strong> two variables, graphing inequalities<br />
<strong>of</strong> two variables, and functions. Under the guidance <strong>of</strong> the instructor,<br />
students will complete self-paced interactive competency-based<br />
computer assignments, including possible review <strong>of</strong> previously<br />
learned topics. More than one course in the sequence may be<br />
completed within the term. Students receiving credit in MATH V01A-<br />
V01E will not receive credit in MATH V01 or MATH V11A-V11B.<br />

MATH V01D - ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA: MODULE IV - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01C or MATH V88C with grade <strong>of</strong> CR or P<br />
Hours: 1 lecture weekly<br />
This course is the fourth <strong>of</strong> a five-course sequence (MATH V01A-<br />
V01E). Completion <strong>of</strong> all five courses is equivalent to MATH V01.<br />
Topics will include solving systems <strong>of</strong> equations by graphing, solving<br />
systems <strong>of</strong> equations by substitution, solving systems <strong>of</strong> equations<br />
by addition, applications <strong>of</strong> systems <strong>of</strong> equations, solving systems<br />
<strong>of</strong> inequalities, and operations with polynomials. Under the guidance<br />
<strong>of</strong> the instructor, students will complete self-paced interactive<br />
competency-based computer assignments, including possible review<br />
<strong>of</strong> previously learned topics. More than one course in the sequence<br />
may be completed within the term. Students receiving credit in MATH<br />
V01A-V01E will not receive credit in MATH V01 or MATH V11A-<br />
V11B.<br />

MATH V01E - ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA: MODULE V - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01D or MATH V88D with grade <strong>of</strong> CR or P<br />
Hours: 1 lecture weekly<br />
This course is the fifth <strong>of</strong> a five-course sequence (MATH V01A-<br />
V01E). Completion <strong>of</strong> all five courses is equivalent to MATH V01.<br />
Topics will include factoring by grouping, factoring trinomials,<br />
factoring differences <strong>of</strong> squares, factoring sums and differences<br />
<strong>of</strong> cubes, solving quadratic equations by factoring, operations on<br />
rational expressions, equations involving rational expressions, and<br />
complex fractions. Under the guidance <strong>of</strong> the instructor, students<br />
will complete self-paced interactive competency-based computer<br />
assignments, including possible review <strong>of</strong> previously learned topics.<br />
More than one course in the sequence may be completed within the<br />
term. Students receiving credit in MATH V01A-V01E will not receive<br />
credit in MATH V01 or MATH V11A-V11B.<br />

MATH V02 - GEOMETRY - 3 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01 or MATH V01A-V01E or MATH V11B or<br />
MATH V88A-V88E or 1 year <strong>of</strong> high school beginning algebra with<br />
grade <strong>of</strong> C or better<br />
Hours: 3 lecture weekly<br />
This course covers sets, real numbers, lines and planes, triangles,<br />
congruence, pro<strong>of</strong>, geometric inequalities, parallel and perpendicular<br />
lines and planes, polygons, similarity, circles, locus, construction,<br />
area, perimeter, and volume.<br />
Formerly Math 2.<br />
MATH V03 - INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA - 5 Units<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01 or MATH V01A-V01E or MATH V11B or<br />
MATH V88A-V88E or 1 year <strong>of</strong> high school beginning algebra with<br />
grade <strong>of</strong> C or better<br />
Hours: 5 lecture weekly<br />
This course covers equations and inequalities, systems <strong>of</strong><br />
equations using matrices, exponents and radicals, complex<br />
numbers, functions and graphs, quadratic equations, conic sections,<br />
exponential and logarithmic functions. Students receiving credit in<br />
MATH V03 will not receive credit in MATH V03A-V03E.<br />
Formerly Math 3.<br />
MATH V03A - INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA: MODULE I - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V01 or MATH V01A-V01E or MATH V11B or<br />
MATH V88A-V88E or 1 year <strong>of</strong> high school beginning algebra with<br />
grade <strong>of</strong> C or better<br />
Hours: 1 lecture weekly<br />
This course is the first <strong>of</strong> a five-course sequence (MATH V03A-<br />
V03E). Completion <strong>of</strong> all five courses is equivalent to MATH V03.<br />
Topics will include compound inequalities, absolute value equations<br />
and inequalities, word problems using inequalities, and functions.<br />
Under the guidance <strong>of</strong> the instructor, students will complete selfpaced<br />
interactive competency-based computer assignments,<br />
including possible review <strong>of</strong> previously learned topics. More than one<br />
course in the sequence may be completed within the term. Students<br />
receiving credit in MATH V03A-V03E will not receive credit in MATH<br />
V03.<br />

MATH V03B - INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA: MODULE II - 1 Unit<br />
Prerequisite: MATH V03A with grade <strong>of</strong> P<br />
Hours: 1 lecture weekly<br />
This course is the second <strong>of</strong> a five-course sequence (MATH<br />
V03A-V03E). Completion <strong>of</strong> all five courses is equivalent to MATH<br />
V03. Topics will include solving systems <strong>of</strong> equations in two and<br />
three variables using the addition and substitution methods, solving<br />
systems <strong>of</strong> equations using matrix row reduction, solving word<br />
problems using systems <strong>of</strong> equations, and graphing solutions to<br />
systems <strong>of</strong> inequalities in two variables. Under the guidance <strong>of</strong> the<br />
instructor, students will complete self-paced interactive competencybased<br />
computer assignments, including possible review <strong>of</strong> previously<br />
learned topics. More than one course in the sequence may be<br />
completed within the term. Students receiving credit in MATH V03A-<br />
V03E will not receive credit in MATH V03.<br />

Topics will include positive, negative and fractional exponents,<br />
radicals, radical equations, and complex numbers. Under the<br />

interactive competency-based computer assignments, including<br />
possible review <strong>of</strong> previously learned topics. More than one course in<br />
the sequence may be completed within the term. Students receiving<br />
credit in MATH V03A-V03E will not receive credit in MATH V03.<br />
