often an effective, and achievable, solution.<br />

Within the DESIRE project, the whole story of research is<br />

presented within the Harmonised In<strong>for</strong>mation System (HIS,<br />

www.desire-his.eu). This system is easy to access and uses<br />

mainly non-scientific language. To make the HIS easy to dip<br />

in and out of, the project in<strong>for</strong>mation is presented through<br />

each study site and/or the series of project research themes.<br />

Key messages and recommendations are highlighted so that<br />

they can be easily accessed by land users, land owners and<br />

policy makers, as appropriate. In<strong>for</strong>mation is often presented<br />

in simple, pictorial poster <strong>for</strong>mats, and video clips. Where<br />

there is written in<strong>for</strong>mation, it is mostly available in multiple<br />

languages, and if not, there is also a facility to use Google<br />

automatic translate.<br />
