design-build all the way. But for a renovation<br />

project, for the smaller renovation projects, is<br />

design-build the best method? You need the VE team<br />

to be giving you feedback early in the process to<br />

tell you we advise you to go this way to avoid<br />

unknowns. To avoid change orders, to avoid<br />

bickering in the project. Bickering is not<br />

productive. So look at some <strong>of</strong> the, look for the VE<br />

team to help advise you on those issues.<br />

The VE team, the next slide, can help you<br />

in project programming and prioritization. It helps<br />

establish quality measures and priorities and ways<br />

to measure them. The program for a project is not<br />

just the square foot. It's a living document. It<br />

tells you the rules on how to build your building.<br />

It's setting forth the priorities for a project.<br />

It's not simply square footage. Next slide.<br />

Now, we talked about lead and I would say<br />

that the VE team can be a very strong partner to<br />

look for successfully incorporating lead principles<br />

into a project. First <strong>of</strong> all, we need to fully<br />

adopt that we are doing sustainable buildings. It's<br />

not just a little lead here and a little lead there.<br />

It's actually we're taking on environmental<br />

stewardship and energy stewardship and doing a full<br />
