We can involve people <strong>of</strong> different<br />
backgrounds. Get the old schools, new school. Get<br />
people from different types <strong>of</strong> experience to look at<br />
how we make environmentally sustainable buildings<br />
possible. We don't want this just to become a<br />
checklist we go through. We want this to become<br />
sustainable building practices and the VE team<br />
during the creative phase can look at even ways to<br />
encourage things that aren't shown in the design.<br />
We've looked at green ro<strong>of</strong>s. This goes<br />
back to your lifecycle costing. We did green ro<strong>of</strong>s<br />
and we were using measures <strong>of</strong> ten-year payback.<br />
Well, if the building is going to go for 50 years,<br />
100 years, why are we looking at a short payback<br />
period? We should be looking at a payback period<br />
that is reflective <strong>of</strong> the true lifecycle <strong>of</strong> that<br />
building. Next slide.<br />
Pick the right team for the task. So it's<br />
not just an architect, an engineer. Pick a team to<br />
answer the question that you're looking to have<br />
answered, whether it be a technical review analyzing<br />
your processes, looking at the program level<br />
