The collision or grounding of a loaded LNG tanker could result in an LNG pool that
could ignite, thus producing thermal radiation. In the course of the hearing, many
participants expressed concern in regard to the possibility and potential
consequences of such an accident occurring in front of île d’Orléans or in the
approach area of the proposed terminal.
