101 The naming of organisms (and plant communities)<br />

informal usage: (bot.) usage of rank-denoting terms at more than one nonsuccessive<br />

position in the taxonomic sequence, not in accordance<br />

with positions mandated in the Code; e.g. ones used at more than<br />

one non-successive position in the same work; names involved in<br />

such usage are validly published but unranked.<br />

information, taxonomic: descriptions, illustrations and other matter<br />

relating to taxa; in (zool.), such information may be taken, for the<br />

purposes of making a name available, from published (and not<br />

disclaimed) works which are not available (e.g. because they were<br />

published before 1758, did not consistently apply binomial<br />

nomenclature, or have been suppressed but not ruled to be treated as<br />

(bot., obsol.) any form of a species other than a subspecies; i.e.<br />

including aberrations, seasonal forms, sexual forms.<br />
