orthography: spelling; the conventional or correct spelling of a word or<br />
name.<br />
orthography conservation proposed, [orth. cons. prop.]: a name<br />
proposed for conservation with a particular spelling; see<br />
orthography conserved.<br />
orthography conserved, [orth. cons.]: a name conserved to preserve a<br />
particular spelling, usually one different from that in the original<br />
place of publication of the name.<br />
orthotype: (zool., unoff.) the type species of a genus that was originally<br />
designated as the type in the original place of publication; see also<br />
genotype.<br />
orthotypic: (zool., unoff.) of a genus-group name, one with an orthotype<br />
(q.v.).<br />
