the Congress is the only body that by the action of a plenary session
which regulates the nomenclature of archaea and bacteria, produced
under the auspices of what is now the International Committee on
Systematics of Prokaryotes (q.v.), first published in 1966, but being
renamed as the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes
International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria and Viruses: (obsol.)
the nomenclature of bacteria and viruses were governed by this
International Code of Nomenclature for Bacteria, and the
International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants, [ICNCP]:
first published in 1953, the Code regulating the nomenclature of
cultivated plants, prepared by the International Commission for the
Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants.
