nomen invalidum, [nom. inval.]: an invalid name (q.v.); see also<br />

designation, name, nomen non rite publicatum.<br />

nomen inversum, [pl. nomina inversa]: (phyt.) a name of a syntaxon<br />

which was not formed according to the Code when published with<br />

regard to the order of the names, but which has been corrected, and<br />

the correction accepted by the International Commission of<br />

Phytosociological Nomenclature.<br />

nomen inversum propositum, [nom. invers. prop.; pl. nomina inversa<br />

proposita]: (phyt.) a name of a syntaxon which was not formed<br />

according to the Code when published with regard to the order of<br />

the names, the corrected order of which has been submitted to the<br />

International Commission of Phytosociological Nomenclature for<br />

acceptance or rejection.<br />

nomen inversum rejiciendum, [nom. invers. rej.; pl. nomina inversa<br />

rejicienda]: (phyt.) a name of a syntaxon which was not formed<br />

according to the Code when published with regard to the order of<br />

the names, which has been submitted to the International<br />

Commission of Phytosociological Nomenclature and the proposed<br />

change in the order of the names rejected.<br />

nomen monstrositatum, [nom. monstr.]: a name based on a monstrosity<br />

(q.v.).<br />

nomen mutatum, [nom. mut.; pl. nomina mutata]: (phyt.) a name of a<br />

syntaxon formed from a taxon name that is no longer used in the<br />

most important taxonomic and floristic literature of the past 20<br />

years, or is only quoted in synonymy, but updated to the<br />

contemporary taxonomic nomenclature; names corrected in this way<br />

retain the original author citation, and the change must be adopted or<br />

rejected by the Nomenclature Commission.<br />

nomen mutatum propositum, [nom. mut. prop.; pl. nomina mutata<br />

proposita]: (phyt.) a change in the name of a syntaxon so that it<br />

follows contemporary taxonomic nomenclature which has been<br />

proposed to the Nomenclature Commission for a ruling on its<br />

adoption or rejection.<br />

nomen neglectum, [nom. negl.]: a neglected name (q.v.).
