Seminar in selected problems for public administration. Case studies<br />

of current issues in public-sector management. Analysis of<br />

managerial techniques and strategies against a background of<br />

organization theory, behavioral motivation, administrative history<br />

and political change.<br />

Prerequisites: ENG 102 or ENG 201, senior standing, and PAD 240<br />

REL 102 Eastern Religions<br />

3 hours, 3 credits<br />

Examination of the doctrines and development of Eastern religions:<br />

Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. Historical<br />

and literary criticism applied to sacred texts.<br />

PAD 445 Seminar in <strong>Justice</strong> Administration and<br />

Planning<br />

Seminar in selected problems involved in planning and<br />

administration of programs and agencies involved in criminal justice.<br />

Students examine actual and simulated cases involving the<br />

development and implementation of criminal justice policy. Cases<br />

require the analysis of management technique and policy strategy in<br />

the context of theory and practice in public administration and<br />

criminal justice.<br />

RUS 101 Introductory Russian I<br />

A basic course in the Russian language with an emphasis on oral and<br />

written communication, reading, and the customs and cultures of<br />

Russian-speaking countries.<br />

No credit will be given for RUS 101 if taken after the completion of<br />

RUS 102. Ten hours of laboratory are required during the semester.<br />

RUS 102 Introductory Russian II<br />

3 hours, 3 credits<br />

This course will enable the student to speak, comprehend, read and<br />

write Russian on a basic level. Ten hours of laboratory are required<br />

during the semester.<br />

RUS 113 Russian for Heritage Speakers I<br />

3 hours, 3 credits<br />

REL 101 Western Religions<br />

3 hours, 3 credits<br />

The course examines the doctrines and development of the Western<br />

religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Historical and literary<br />

criticism applied to sacred texts.<br />

Russian for Heritage Speakers I is an elementary foreign language<br />

course that is designed for those students who need to fulfill their<br />

language requirement but have previous knowledge of Russian. This<br />

course is perfect for heritage speakers who have basic knowledge of<br />

the language and some speaking abilities but lack the grammatical<br />

background. The class will concentrate on improving reading and<br />

writing skills as well as communication. Ten laboratory hours will be<br />

required during the semester.<br />
