ART 241 Forensic Drawing<br />
3 hours, 3 credits<br />
This course is designed to teach students the necessary skills to put<br />
their artistic ability to work in law enforcement. This course will<br />
provide students with the basic drawing, technological, and analytical<br />
skills that are the foundation of Forensic Drawing. Students who<br />
complete the course will be conversant in the tools and knowledge<br />
used by forensic artists worldwide. The course also incorporates<br />
writing and research components, which involve the study of the<br />
history of forensic art.<br />
Prerequisites: ENG 101, ART 111<br />
ART 301 Problems in Modern Art<br />
3 hours, 3 credits<br />
Research in special problems in modern art. Interpretations of works<br />
of art through the writings of artists and critics.<br />
Prerequisites: ENG 102 or 201, any 100-level art history course.<br />
BASIC SKILLS (Freshman Services)<br />
These courses are generally offered during the summer and winter<br />
intersessions for students who are working towards skillscertification.<br />
ISM 010 Basic Skills Immersion: Mathematics<br />
3 hours, no credit<br />
Intensive review of arithmetic and elementary algebra. Preparation<br />
for the <strong>CUNY</strong> Freshman Skills Assessment Test in mathematics.<br />
Classes supplemented by individual tutoring. Authorized grades: P,<br />
R, and W.<br />
ISR 010 Basic Skills Immersion: Reading<br />
3 hours, no credit<br />
Intensive practice in comprehension and analysis of texts.<br />
Metacognitive approaches to improving reading. Preparation for the<br />
<strong>CUNY</strong> Freshman Skills Assessment Test in reading. Classes<br />
supplemented by tutoring in the Communication Skills Center.<br />

ISW 010 Basic Skills Immersion: Writing<br />
3 hours, no credit<br />
Intensive practice in organization, grammar and syntax. Emphasis on<br />
editing and rewriting. Preparation for the <strong>CUNY</strong> Freshman Skills<br />
Assessment Test in writing. Classes supplemented by tutoring in the<br />
<strong>College</strong> Writing Center. Using the computer to write and edit.<br />

ISC 010 Basic Skills Immersion: <strong>College</strong> Orientation<br />
3 hours, no credit<br />
Orientation to academic requirements, student services, issues in<br />
general education and career planning. Study skills, time<br />
management, and adjustment to the college environment. Use of<br />
academic facilities: the Library, Writing Center, Academic<br />
Computing Center, Reading Skills Laboratory, and Mathematics<br />
Laboratory. Authorized grades: P, R, and W.<br />
BIO 101 Paced Modern Biology I-A<br />
3 hours, 2 credits<br />
Paced Modern Biology 1-A is the first course in the two-semester<br />
alternative to Modern Biology I for those students who do not place<br />
into Biology 103. The series is an in-depth exploration of the basic<br />
properties of living systems on the molecular, cellular, and<br />
organismic levels. Topics in Biology 1-A include cell structure and<br />
function; structure and function of macromolecules; energetics;<br />
