Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation<br />

(LSAMP)<br />

The office provides faculty with advice and assistance in projects that<br />

seek to internationalize the curriculum and the campus, to establish<br />

collaborative research ties, to identify grant and fellowship support,<br />

and to design research and study abroad opportunities for students.<br />

For students, the office provides information and advice about<br />

international programs, opportunities and funding sources.<br />

The LSAMP program is designed to strengthen the preparation and<br />

increase the number of minority students who successfully complete<br />

baccalaureate and master’s degrees in science, technology,<br />

engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The program provides<br />

student enrichment and direct student support in the form of stipends<br />

for tutoring, work in laboratories, and summer internships in<br />

university, research, or corporate settings. For information about the<br />

The <strong>Of</strong>fice of International Studies & Programs works with faculty<br />

and students to identify, create, and seek funding for international<br />

opportunities. These opportunities include study and research<br />

abroad, international internships, the <strong>John</strong> <strong>Jay</strong> <strong>College</strong>-sponsored<br />

international conference, and the creation of international networks of<br />

scholars, organizations and institutions.<br />
