Please note: ENG 101 is a prerequisite for students wishing to enroll<br />

in 200-level courses and ENG 102 or ENG 201 is a prerequisite for<br />

students wishing to enroll in 300-level courses or above.<br />

Courses previously designated as Government (GOV) are now listed<br />

as Political Science (POL). Students registering for a Political<br />

Science course should make certain that they have not previously<br />

taken the course under the Government designation.<br />

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN<br />

CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND PUBLIC<br />

ADMINISTRATION<br />

(Bachelor of Science)<br />

The major in Computer Information Systems in <strong>Criminal</strong> <strong>Justice</strong> and<br />

Public Administration focuses on software development, information<br />

systems design and the modeling of public systems, using the<br />

techniques of operations research. In addition to fulfilling basic<br />

requirements in computer science, operations research and<br />

mathematics, students must complete an applied specialization in<br />

computer applications in either criminal justice or public<br />

administration.<br />

Credits required. 42<br />

Prerequisites: MAT 141*, 204, and 241–242. MAT 141 fulfills the<br />

<strong>College</strong>’s general education requirements in mathematics.<br />

In the Public Administration Specialization, any one of the following<br />

courses: ANT 101, ECO 101, GOV 101, PSY 101, or SOC 101 is a<br />

prerequisite for PAD 240. (This prerequisite also partially fulfills the<br />

general education requirement in the social sciences.)<br />

* Students with a strong high school mathematics background that<br />

includes trigonometry and pre-calculus may be exempt from MAT<br />

141. In such cases, consultation with the Department of Mathematics<br />

and Computer Science is suggested.<br />
