TUITION & FEES<br />

Administrative Cancellations<br />

Students are entitled to full refunds in the event that courses or<br />

registrations are canceled by the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Outstanding Debts to the <strong>College</strong><br />

Students with outstanding debts to the <strong>College</strong> may not register for a<br />

succeeding semester until the debts are cleared. Personal checks in<br />

payment of delinquent accounts will not be accepted during the<br />

registration period. Transcripts and diplomas shall not be released<br />

with outstanding liabilities with the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

certifying agent, and students who have not completed exit interviews<br />

as required by the Federal Perkins Loan Program, the Federal Family<br />

Education Loan Programs, the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan<br />

Program and the Nursing Student Loan Program, are not permitted to<br />

complete registration, or be issued a copy of their grade, a transcript<br />

of academic record, certificate or degree, nor are they to receive<br />

funds under the federal campus-based student assistance programs or<br />

the Federal Pell Grant Program unless the designated officer, in<br />

exceptional hardship cases and consistent with federal and state<br />

regulations, waives in writing the application of this regulation.<br />

Special Provisions for Students in the Military<br />

Returned Check Policy<br />

Checks returned unpaid to the <strong>College</strong> by a financial institution, no<br />

matter the amount or reason for the return, will automatically incur a<br />

$15 reprocessing fee in addition to the original obligation. The<br />

Bursar will attempt to notify the student or former student who<br />

submitted the returned check to provide information on making<br />

payment. Full payment must be made within two weeks of the date<br />

of the check being returned to the <strong>College</strong>. Failure to meet this<br />

deadline will result in an additional $15 Late Payment Service Fee<br />

and, in some cases, that account being` turned over to the <strong>College</strong>’s<br />

collection attorneys for appropriate action. The Bursar will not<br />

accept checks in payment of tuition or fees, even if the student wishes<br />

to use someone else’s check<br />

If the financial institution supplies a letter to the <strong>College</strong> admitting<br />

error on its part, the student will have his/her check writing privileges<br />

restored. A student who fails to pay tuition or other obligations will<br />

be denied access to his/her records and will be prevented from<br />

registering in the future.<br />

The City University of New York Policy on Withholding<br />

Student Records<br />

Students who are delinquent and/or in default in any of their financial<br />

accounts with the <strong>College</strong>, the University, or an appropriate state or<br />

federal agency for which the University acts as either a disbursing or<br />

The following policies apply to students who leave <strong>CUNY</strong> to fulfill<br />

military obligations.<br />

1. Students called up to the reserves or drafted before the end of the<br />

semester:<br />

Grades. In order to obtain a grade, a student must attend 13<br />

weeks (five weeks for summer session).<br />

Refunds. A student called up to the reserves or drafted or who<br />

does not attend for a sufficient time to qualify for a grade is<br />

entitled to a 100 percent refund of tuition and all other fees<br />

except application fees.<br />

2. Students who volunteer (enlist) for the military:<br />

Grades. Same provision as for students called up to the reserves.<br />

In order to obtain a grade, a student must attend 13 weeks (five<br />

weeks for summer session).<br />

Refunds. The amount of the refund depends upon whether the<br />

withdrawal is before the fifth week of classes.<br />

Withdrawal before the beginning of the fifth calendar week (third<br />

calendar week for summer sessions): 100 percent refund of<br />

tuition and all other fees except application fees<br />

Withdrawal thereafter: 50 percent refund<br />
