Certificates, Programs and Minors<br />
psychology. The minor prepares students to become informed, lifelong<br />
consumers of psychology. It also provides some background in<br />
psychology that can help build a foundation for many fields of<br />
graduate or professional study and careers.<br />
Rationale. Gaining exposure to the science of human behavior<br />
through the Psychology minor can be of substantial benefit for<br />
students in many disciplines. The minor provides opportunities to<br />
hone critical thinking, research and writing skills, which are crucial in<br />
any field. Students also can explore topics and issues that might help<br />
direct their career choices. Any major pairs well with a Psychology<br />
minor.<br />

PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION MINOR (Department of<br />
Public Management)<br />
Description and rationale. Wherever a career leads, it will<br />
inevitably involve management. The minor in Public Administration<br />
gives students an understanding of how administration works, how<br />
policy gets made, and how to excel as a manager in government, nonprofit<br />
and corporate organizations. The supervision, planning and<br />
budgeting skills you acquire in the Public Administration minor will<br />
prove valuable as you advance towards a leadership role in any<br />
organization that helps carry out the business of government.<br />

Requirements: To receive the minor, you must complete 18 credits<br />
(six courses) from the following public administration courses.<br />
“Special topics” courses in public administration or public<br />
administration graduate courses taken by academically-eligible<br />
seniors can also be applied to the minor.<br />
Note: The minor in Public Administration is not available to<br />
students who are majoring in Public Administration.<br />
