COMMENTARY: Radios greatly helped coordinate <strong>Mujahideen</strong> actions.<br />

Evidently, attacking during <strong>the</strong> Feast <strong>of</strong> Ramadan also helped.<br />

Because <strong>the</strong> DRA had to protect military, political and economic installations<br />

this spread <strong>the</strong> DRA force thin and inhibited <strong>of</strong>fensive actions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> agricultural project was vital to <strong>the</strong> economic well-being <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

area and, although <strong>the</strong> <strong>Mujahideen</strong> attacked <strong>the</strong> military posts, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

did not attack <strong>the</strong> canals.
