regional air defense comm<strong>and</strong>er. Comm<strong>and</strong>er, subordinate to the area air defense<br />

short-range ballistic missile. A l<strong>and</strong>-based ballistic missile with a range capability up to<br />

about 600 nautical miles. Also called SRBM. (Approved for inclusion in <strong>JP</strong> 1-02.)<br />

simultaneous engagement. The concurrent engagement of hostile targets by combination<br />

of interceptor aircraft <strong>and</strong> surface-to-air missiles. (Approved for incorporation into<br />

<strong>JP</strong> 1-02 with <strong>JP</strong> 3-<strong>01</strong> as the source <strong>JP</strong>.)<br />
