2 – General DescriptionFigure 2.4.1View of a repository architecture in operationThe design of the surface installations is similar to existing industrial facilities (see chapter 8 forfurther details).The underground installations and disposal packages are more specific elements. After a presentationof key elements governing their design, the following sections globally describe the options proposedfor the disposal cells and waste packages for each category of waste, and a possible arrangement forthe repository zones, shafts and connecting drifts.The technical feasibility of these installations and disposal packages depends on engineering studiesand dimensioning with an appropriate degree of detail.
