OHMRemediationServices Corp. HEALTH AND SAFETY PLANOperators are required to wear seat belts when operating equipment <strong>and</strong> areresponsible <strong>for</strong> the location of ground personnel in their <strong>work</strong> area. The turningradius of trackhoes is guarded to prevent contact between the equipmentcounterweight <strong>and</strong> ground personnel.5. Bulk Fuel Stora - The bulk fuel storage will be 110 gallon tank located on thepickup. At least one 20-pound dry chemical, ABC-type fiie extinguisher will bepositioned in this area.6. Flame. Heat. or Spark-Producine Operations - Because of the possibilities offlammable materials being present at this <strong>site</strong>, flame, heat, or spark-producingoperations will be limited. If a case arises where hot <strong>work</strong> is necessary, it will beper<strong>for</strong>med by OHM SOP on <strong>site</strong> according to the Hot Work Procedure. Thisprocedure requires a hot <strong>work</strong> permit <strong>and</strong> wilI be inspected by the PSO or PS prior tocommencing hot <strong>work</strong>. All combustible materials will be removed from the areabe<strong>for</strong>e any not <strong>work</strong> is started. A fire watch will be posted <strong>and</strong> the atmosphere willbe tested <strong>for</strong> combustible gases. The hot <strong>work</strong> permit will be completed by the PSOor PS . The permit will indicate the area, the employees involved, air monitoringresults, fire protection systems, <strong>and</strong> fire department number.7. High Pressure Washing - Washing or cleaning certain pieces of equipment mayrequire the use of high pressure washers, referred to as lasers. These devices can behazardous if not used properly. Specific laser safety instructions are provided inProcedure No. 30. The following protective equipment will be worn: safety shoes orboots, metal foot <strong>and</strong> shin guards, goggles <strong>and</strong> face shield, hard hat, heavy-dutyPVC rain suit, heavy chemical resistant gloves. Only trained personnel will operatethe high pressure washer. The operator must have an assistant to move the hose <strong>and</strong>back-up the operator. Other personnel must remain a minimum of 25 feet from thearea. The equipment cannot be altered. (Trigger shall never be tied down.) Operatorshould be changed every hour. Hydroblasting lacerations are serious <strong>and</strong> must bereported.8. Small Ouantitv Flammable Liquids - Small quantities of flammable liquids will bestored in “safety” cans <strong>and</strong> labeled according to contents.9. Electrical Hazards - Overhead power lines, downed electrical wires, <strong>and</strong> buriedcables pose a danger of shock or electrocution if <strong>work</strong>ers contact or sever themduring <strong>site</strong> operations.
