Therefore, ifthere is any doubt that a fire can be quickly contained and extinguished, personnel will notifythe emergency coordinator by radio and vacate the structure or area. The emergencycoordinator will immediately notify the local Fire Department.The followingprocedures will be used to prevent the possibility of fires and resulting injuries:lSources of ignition will be kept away from where flammable materials are handled orstored.lThe air will be monitored for explosivity before and during hot work and periodicallywhere flammable materials are present. Hot work permits will be required for all suchwork.. “No smoking” signs will be conspicuously posted in areas where flammable materialsare present.lFire extinguishers will be placed in all areas where a fire hazard may exist.lBefore workers begin operations in an area the foreman will give instruction on egressprocedures and assembly points.
