HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN5.4 RESPIRATOR CARTRIDGESThe crew members working in Level C will wear respirators equipped with air-purifyingcartridges approved for the following contaminants.+ Organic vapors < 1,000 ppml Chlorine gas 40 ppml Hydrogen chloride 40 ppml Sulfur dioxide 40 ppml Dusts, fumes and mists with a TWA 4.05 mg/m3l Asbestos-containing dusts and mistsl Radionuclides5.5 CARTRIDGE CHANGESAll cartridges will be changed a minimum of once daily, or more frequently if personnel beginto experience increased inhalation resistance or breakthrough of a chemical warning property.Cartridges will be labeled with the date service began.5.6 INSPECTION AND CLEANINGRespirators are checked periodically by a qualified individual and inspected before each use bythe wearer. All respirators and associated equipment will be decontaminated and hygienicallycleaned after each use.5.7 FIT TESTINGAll personnel required to wear an air-purifying respirator as part of their employment will befit-tested at the time of assignment and a minimum of annually thereafter. The test will useisoamyl acetate or irritant smoke.
