2.3 Supervisor Responsibilities2.41. Identify jobs requiring the use of hazardous chemicals <strong>and</strong> provide lists of thosejobs <strong>and</strong> chemicals to the Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Department.2. Provide the training required by the Hazard Communication St<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>and</strong>document training of employees in the safe h<strong>and</strong>ling of hazardous materials.3. Inspect engineering controls <strong>and</strong> personal protective equipment be<strong>for</strong>e each use.Health <strong>and</strong> Safety can help determine a suitable inspection <strong>plan</strong> <strong>for</strong> eachapplication as needed.4. Make daily surveys of the <strong>work</strong> area to ensure that safe practices are beingfollowed. Advise employees of unsafe <strong>work</strong> practices on the first occasion <strong>and</strong>consider further violations as disciplinary violations.5. Ensure required labeling practices are being followed. Labeling should beaffixed to the container when it arrives. If the contents are transferred to anothercontainer, then all label in<strong>for</strong>mation (manufacturer, product name, <strong>and</strong> productnumber) must also be affixed to the new container, so that all containers of thematerial, regardless of size, are labeled.6.7.En<strong>for</strong>ce all applicable safety <strong>and</strong> health st<strong>and</strong>ards through periodic audits.Be<strong>for</strong>e ordering a material, determine if a Material Safety Data Sheet exist on file.Request an MSDS <strong>for</strong> any material without one.8. Send all new MSDSs to the Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Department after making a copy<strong>for</strong> the Employee Right-to-Know file.Employee Responsibilities1. Do not use unapproved containers <strong>for</strong> hazardous materials.
