OHM RemediationServices Corp. HEALTH AND SAFETY PLANinjury within the EZ will be evacuated by OHM personnel to a clean area <strong>for</strong> treatmentby EMS personnel. No one will be able to enter the EZ without showing proof oftraining, medical surveillance <strong>and</strong> <strong>site</strong> orientation.l Non Life-ThreateninP Incident--If it is determined that no threat to life is present, theSite Safety Officer will direct the injured person through decontamination procedures(see below) appropriate to the nature of the illness or accident. Appropriate first aid ormedical attention will then be administered.*NOTE:The area surrounding an accident <strong>site</strong> must not be disturbed until the scene hasbeen cleared by the Site Safety Officer.Any personnel requiring emergency medical attention will be evacuated from exclusion <strong>and</strong>contamination reduction zones if doing so would not endanger the life of the injured person orotherwise aggravate the injury. Personnel will not enter the area to attempt a rescue if theirown lives would be threatened. The decision whether or not to decontaminate a victim prior toevacuation is based on the type <strong>and</strong> severity of the illness or injury <strong>and</strong> the nature of thecontaminant. For some emergency victims, immediate decontamination may be an essentialpart of life-saving first aid. For others, decontamination may aggravate the injury or delay lifesavingfirst aid. Decontamination will be per<strong>for</strong>med if it does not interfere with essentialtreatment.If decontamination can be per<strong>for</strong>med, observe the following procedures:lWash external clothing <strong>and</strong> cut it away.If decontamination cannot be per<strong>for</strong>med, observe the following procedures:lWrap the victim in blankets or plastic to reduce contamination of other personnel.l Alert emergency <strong>and</strong> off-<strong>site</strong> medical personnel to potential contamination, instructthem about specific decontamination procedures which must be per<strong>for</strong>med.l Send <strong>site</strong> personnel familiar with the incident <strong>and</strong> chemical safety in<strong>for</strong>mation, e.g.MSDS, with the affected person.All injuries, no matter how small, will be reported to the SSO or the Site Supervisor.
