priorities <strong>and</strong> see new ways for COAG <strong>and</strong> its Councils to identify <strong>and</strong> address issues ofnational significance.COAG agreed in principle to reforms that would see rationalisation of <strong>the</strong> 40 <strong>Minister</strong>ialCouncils (MINCOs) to fewer St<strong>and</strong>ing Councils (including COAG itself) overseeing keyareas of ongoing reform important to <strong>the</strong> Commonwealth <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>State</strong>s <strong>and</strong> Territories.COAG may also decide to convene Select MINCOs from time to time when it requiresadvice on particular issues within specific timeframes.
